The Indonesian logistics market has both of organized and unorganized players, including a combination of shipping and international freight forwarders, courier service providers mainly engaged inland transportation, and overall logistics service providers that adopt multimodal transport models. Players are turning to 3PL and adopting new technologies to increase their market share. Currently, Indonesia has more than 200 logistics and warehouse service providers.
In the past five years, Indonesia's logistics industry has shown tremendous growth. The government has issued 13 logistics policy plans, the rise of logistics centers, and the elevated e-commerce industry. It is observed that 24.0% of the country's GDP is used for logistics. In terms of revenue, the Indonesian freight forwarding market is dominated by road freight. Road freight has the highest share, due to the large number of deliveries made through the road network. Airfreight occupies the second-largest share of the country's freight forwarding market.
